In various horeca venues such as bars, disco''s, karaoke''s, restaurants, live music venue''s, cabarets etc. there is a lot of noise as well from the (live) music as from the visitors (inside and around the venue).

This can result in noise nuisance in the surroundings, especially if the venue is in a (sub)urban area with a lot of residential houses.

Nowadays it is very common to make an acoustical report (acoustical survey) before the venue is build or opened to know the noise nuisance for the surroundings.

In an existing building noise reduction measurements will be performed, wherefrom the noise reduction can be calculated. With these results we can calculate the maximum allowed sound level in the venue to avoid noise nuisance in the neighborhood.

If the allowed noise level in the venue is too low for a good exploitation, additional noise control measures have to be determined. Following noise calculations we can consult which noise reduction measure have to be taken.
If we can consult before any interior adjustments are made, the total investment for noise control measures can be acceptable.

It may be clear that in a given situation with all interior design already in place, noise reduction measures can be very expensive.
