Vibrations and the human body in Thailand

Vibrations and the human body in Thailand: ISO standards 5349-1 and 2631-1

Measurement and calculations for Evaluation of Human Exposure to Hand-Transmitted Vibration are performed according to the ISO 5349-1 and Mechanical Vibration and Shock - Evaluation of Human Exposure to Whole Body Vibration according to the ISO 2631-1.

In these international standards is described how measurements and calculations have to be performed before vibration levels can be compared to the levels in these standards.

Value to take action
Maximum value
Whole Body Vibration
A(8) Dayvalue (Standard evaluation)
VDV (Vibration Dose Value)
0,5 m/s2
9,1 m/s2
1,15 m/s2
21,0 m/s2
Hand-Transmitted Vibration
a(8) Dayvalue (Standard evaluation)
2,5 m/s2
5,0 m/s2

It is essential to mention that the values in the above table are based on exposure of a full working day (8 hours). If exposure to vibrations are shorter, the equivalent of the vibration will be spread over the 8 hours.
The VDV (Vibration Dose Value) is used if the vibration level is low but has significant peak levels.
