Rail, road and airtraffic noise control Thailand

Rail traffic, road traffic and air traffic can cause serious noise nuisance in urban and suburban areas.

In many countries there are already very strict rules for sound levels if a new traffic road, railroad (subway, train or skytrain) or airport is planned in the vicinity of houses.

Also if a house is planned to be build in a noise zone of a road, rail or airtraffic, the builder has to perform an acoustical survey to be sure the noise levels in the house won''t be too high.

High noise levels can cause stress and not enough night rest for the residents and can cause severe physical and psychical problems.

If sound reductions measures cannot be taken on the sound source (road, rail or air traffic) in the form of ''silent tarmac'', less traffic, noise screens or walls etc. than noise reductions measures have to be taken on the house.

To determine noise levels in and outside the house (or area) we need to know the intensity of the traffic. If intensities of the traffic (number of cars per 24 hours, or number of trains, sky trains, subways per 24 hours or number of flights per 24 hours) are not known, countings have to be performed.

Once the intensities are known we can calculate the sound levels in and outside the objects and also can calculate the noise reduction measures to be taken.

On a house noise reduction measure can be sound insulation glass, silencers for ventilation, heavier panels, roof insulation etc.

If a road is to be relocated, the noise levels on houses should be calculated before and after the relocation to determine if there are any negative effects.
