In many cases we can measure the noise to get a reading of the current sound levels. However, it’s very hard to get a representative noise measurement as it will be influenced by meteorological circumstances (wind, rain, etc.) and by any irregular sound source. Examples of irregular sound sources are windfarms, road- and rail- traffic noise, aircraft noise, industries, race tracks etc. A good way to get a representative picture of the noise situation is by noise monitoring. With noise monitoring you not just measure for a few minutes or hours but for days, weeks, months and in many situations all the time.
Noise monitoring data is typically always available online, alarms can be set when thresholds are exceeded or audio recording can be triggered when a certain sound level is exceeded. Norsonic even added an additional Noise Compass to it’s noise monitoring stations making it possible to locate the direction of each measured noise !
With a Profound VIBRA you can easily monitor vibrations, which may cause damage to buildings and sensitive equipment. The system is robust, lightweight, portable and battery-operated. Profound has developed 3 different VIBRA’s to meet the individual requirements of international clients. The characteristics of the VIBRA, the VIBRA-sbr and the VIBRA+.
